Got a kick out of Dave Winer’s early April Fools’ joke on Scripting News. “In other words, I like money. Pay me. Now. Or else. :-)”

How to Track the Future of the Music Industry. Marshall Kirkpatrick gives a bit of insight into how he’s tracking the future of the music industry via Twitter. This type of journalism-hacking is brilliant.

Bootstrapped, Profitable, & Proud: Coudal. 37signals talks with Jim Coudal about the founding, growing pains, and success of Coudal Partners. A wonderfully honest interview by Jim Coudal.

The future of analytics products. An epic rundown of various analytics products, what they offer, and what they lack. Google Analytics may be the market leader but for many large sites and companies it may not be the best option.

How to set post slugs from within WordPress’ iOS apps. Nifty guide on using a plugin to customize post slugs on a WordPress blog. Just a simple shortcode inside of a post.

Fitbit weekly summaries

Fitbit now sends weekly summaries of your activity right to your inbox. It includes a recap of your steps, miles, weight, and sleep changes.

There’s a leaderboard column in the email as well as on the site. Not sure how that works since I’ve kept my Fitbit data private. For those who want, or need, an extra boost to get going a leaderboard could be a cool way to competitively exercise.

Having a reminder of your activity is a great way to reflect on the past week.

Minimal Stream, a WordPress theme

I had extra time this weekend and decided I wanted to take a crack at making a really minimal WordPress theme. The product is now on Github and I’m calling it Minimal Stream.

It’s a one-column theme that includes support for asides, galleries, and statuses. Definitely nothing fancy but that’s just what I was going for. You can see it running now on this site so hop on over and take a look.

The first pass doesn’t include styles for tables and surely has some display bugs but I’ll be making some updates this week.

Are you making something?. Seth Godin writes about how distraction can build when you use the same device for work and play. Using a separate device for play so allows you to realize how much break time you’re taking. That way you can get back to making something real.

Guardian

Best part of working on a weekend is having a cat standing guard. My own little desk guardian.

Instead of going into debt for a degree take that money and start a company. If that’s too scary, join an awesome team. You might find you learn more working on something than being in school, I have.
