Mt. Hood Hiking

Mt. Hood

Took advantage of the wonderful weather yesterday to do a short hike on the Timberline Trail. Topped the day off with a 3-mile run and a delicious homemade dinner. Good Saturday.

Nolan’s 14. An insane course over 60 hours through Colorado that summits fourteen 14,000-foot peaks. Since it started as an unofficial race in 1999 only 7 people have finished.

Hiking to Burnt Lake

One of my favorite aspects of Portland is that, within 90 minutes, I can surround myself with forests, mountains, and wide open sky. Sometimes you just need to get outside.

A few weeks ago Leah and I drove East toward Mt. Hood. After a few miles on forest roads we set out toward Burnt Lake. Hiking anywhere near Hood in the summer usually means hiking with a crowd. We hit the trail head at 9:45am, though, and passed 1 other group on the entire hike up. Really relaxing way to spend a morning.

Table Mountain

Great hike today with Daniel. Killer incline in the hike up but handily we came down a more gradual route.

Topped it off with a delicious milkshake after.

The three peaks

Spent the day hiking the three peaks in Spokane. Although, we didn’t quite reach the third since we were short on time. Phenomenal day.

Hiking on Mt. Hood

I spent this weekend at a cabin outside of Welches, OR near Mt. Hood. We headed out there Friday afternoon and stuck around through Sunday afternoon. Saturday and Sunday were hiking-filled days.

On Saturday we headed out Lolo Pass Road and hiked toward McNeil Point. The weather was flat out amazing. Blue skies, warm temperatures, and no wind. Perfect. On Sunday we took a far more well-traveled route out to Mirror Lake. (more…)

Cathedral Lakes, Yosemite National Park

A couple weeks ago I spent a week at my parents house in California. First day there we hiked to Cathedral Lakes and back which I hadn’t done since I was a little kid. Great 8 mile hike up through a forest and ending in a gorgeous alpine lake.

Yuppie scum…

Seen while walking in Forest Park this afternoon. I’m sure the sign has had a huge impact. 😉

Great day of hiking with @simpledream and friends

Triple Falls

Took advantage of the nice weather today and hit 3 waterfalls in 5 miles through the Columbia Gorge. The aperture on that photo is off, but pictured is Triple Falls.

Mount Defiance, in the mist

Spent the first half of yesterday hiking Mount Defiance with Leah, Luke, and Luke’s sister who’s in town for the week. It was a decent day of weather in Portland but the mountain ended up surrounded by clouds and mist. Still a great hike but we missed out on what should have been great views of Mount Hood.
