Manzanita, Oregon

Took a quick trip this weekend out to Manzanita, Oregon. It mostly rained, but we had some nice weather Friday afternoon. It’s relaxing to get a quick change of scenery like this. View the full gallery →

Green Lakes Trail

Last weekend Leah and I were in Sunriver, OR. On Saturday we spent the afternoon hiking up the Green Lakes trail which winds you up the east side of the Cascades between South Sister and Broken Top. The weather was perfect with cool weather and blue skies.

Hiking on Mt. Hood

I spent this weekend at a cabin outside of Welches, OR near Mt. Hood. We headed out there Friday afternoon and stuck around through Sunday afternoon. Saturday and Sunday were hiking-filled days.

On Saturday we headed out Lolo Pass Road and hiked toward McNeil Point. The weather was flat out amazing. Blue skies, warm temperatures, and no wind. Perfect. On Sunday we took a far more well-traveled route out to Mirror Lake. (more…)

A week at the Oregon coast

Last week I spent Monday through Thursday at a friend’s beach house in Waldport, Oregon. It was a half work week, half vacation week. Snapped a few photos, went on a nice little hike, and got lots of reading in. Good way to recharge the batteries.

Leaving the laptop behind for a weekend

That was my view for most of this past weekend. When your job lets you work from anywhere your laptop goes it’s nice to leave the laptop behind once in a while.

Leah and I rented a cabin on the Sandy River out near Mt. Hood. It was a great spot to spend the weekend hiking, reading, and relaxing.

The best American wall map. Cool look at a finely crafted map of the United States made in Oregon. 2 years to create a map is incredible. (via Chrys Wu).

Three Sisters Wilderness

I spent last Thursday through Saturday hiking through the Three Sisters Wilderness with Leah and our friend Luke. It was an absolute blast. My iPhone was in airplane mode the whole time and the only thing electronic I touched was my camera.

The weather was gorgeous and we got 4 hikes in. We covered Obsidian Falls, Horse Pasture Mountain, Hand Lake, and Sahalie Falls. My Fitbit tells me it was over 33 miles of hiking. I’ve kind of thrown off my weekly averages there.
