I’m settled back home after almost 2 weeks in Tokyo last month. It remains one of my favorite cities in the world, to the point that I’d even consider living there if I felt more confident in learning the language and customs.

This was also my first real trip with a new camera I bought last year. It’s fun to shoot with a “proper” camera again and, especially when traveling, I find it means I take my phone out a lot less. It does pose the challenge of what to do with more and more 90MB RAW files…
Turn Every Page is a lovely documentary. Robert Caro has long been a favorite author of mine, but I knew little about his editor, Robert Gottlieb. The simplicity of Caro’s office is a reminder that plain tools can create exceptional work.
- How to solve the housing gap in the US. This feels tangible in a way that is often fleeting when it comes to housing.
- Jimmy Carter’s life, in brief. I learned, among other things, that he was the first U.S. president born in a hospital.
- Taylor Swift is not Mary Shelley. This increased the admiration I have for Shelley’s work and its context.
